Gene Gort

    Gene Gort is a visual artist, video producer, media programmer and educator who lives in Collinsville, Connecticut. His installations and videotapes have been shown internationally and has received recognition from the MacDowell Colony (fellow), The Rockefeller Foundation (nominee), Pollack-Krasner Foundation (award) and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts (fellow), among others.

    He is presently collaborating with composer Ken Steen and e-cellist Jeffrey Krieger on "Reliquary of Labor", a "parallel-media" project which involves multi-channel video, sound/music composition, web components and live performance. Gene has a acquired a switching matrix from Dave Jones Design for use with MAX/MSP for the performance component of the project.

    Other works include the "Balance/EQuilibrium" installation/projection series, participation in the Madrid based VideoArtFoundation's "videoDictionary", an internationally traveling group exhibit and "10,000 Beds" a group project with the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art. Gene is Associate Professor of Media Arts at Hartford Art School, University of Hartford and directs the program there.
